In the poem, “Richard Cory”, by Edwin Arlington Robinson, Richard Cory is one of the richest person in his town. All of the people envy him, and literally faint when he just says, “good morning.” Robinson refers to him to almost sound like a king; he makes it sound like his life is perfect. But in reality, its not. He shoots himself one summer evening. And that’s just the theme; Everyone can fake a smile. Just because it looks like someones happy on the outside, doesn’t mean that something or someone is hurting him on the inside. It may seem to look like he has a pretty perfect life in the beginning (to the people of course), but he really doesn’t.
